Soul Choir in concert

Soul Choir was created by Dan Price in 2018. Over the past four years it has evolved into a community choir with over 80 members, spanning the Holme & Colne valleys. Singing classic soul from the 60s & 70s, blues and gospel. Great atmosphere. Free entry with refreshments available.

LATIN JAZZ at its BEST – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 

‘Headlining at The Mechanics – TRYPL is a collaboration of three of the UK’s finest Jazz Musicians whose credits are wide ranging and speak for themselves. 

Trombonist and composer

has performed with, among others, George Benson, recorded and toured with multi-instrumentalist James Morrison, toured with Michel Le Grand, and recorded with Pat Metheny, Toots Thielemans and David Sanborn. Trevor was a member of jazz funk band Jamiroquai and Incognito, recording and touring with both for a number of years. Trevor is currently trombonist/arranger for Sir Tom Jones, and recently toured with Randy Brecker’s European Big Band, as well as recording with Radiohead and performing with Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, and recording and performing with Mark Ronsony.

One of the most in-demand trumpet players in the UK

Credits include Quincy Jones, Ron Carter, Aretha Franklin, Harry Connick Jr, George Michael, Gregory Porter, Michael Bublé and Robbie Williams. As a lead and guest principal trumpeter he has appeared with the Grammy-winning Metropole Orkest, the Halle Orchestra, the Berlin Staatskapelle, the Royal Northern Sinfonia, the BBC Scottish Symphony and Royal Scottish National Orchestras, the RTE Concert and Symphony Orchestras, and the BBC Big Band.

Ryan is a winner of a Parliamentary Jazz Award, Scottish Jazz Award and a UK Jazz Services Award.ed

HANSON Community Ensembles

Starting Sunday off with some more of Hanson Arts’ community groups. Come and join the Ukulele Group and Choir grab yourself a coffee and a butty.

Enjoy a warm welcome and an opportunity to take part in singing some hymns and spirituals with this newly re-formed band. Better still if you can clap on the off-beat! Too many musicians have passed during Covid including our main reed player Gerry Owen so we will have Gerry and other late members of New Orleans Wiggle on our minds especially as the band is supported by Gerry’s daughter and family. Come and celebrate!

‘Our dad was an ever present figure on the north west traditional jazz scene. A ‘reed man’ but no stranger to the mic, he enjoyed playing for audiences across the North and here in West Yorkshire. He is missed with much love by our family and friends from the music scene. We remember him through the music.’
